Siletz Sanctuary Stunning River Retreat on the Oregon Coast

Take in the river views of the wildlife sanctuary from 3 sides of this tranquil getaway. Have coffee, watch the sunrise and spot seals and birds from the huge deck. Or kayak upriver, wind through the estuaries and fish for salmon (salmon run is Sept - Oct). The home used to be an ice house for the cannery. Come back to your own private sauna. Explore the beaches, go hiking or shopping. Tons to do in the area.

You'll get the whole house to yourself with a modern kitchen, gas stove, tons of cookware and appliances (the owner loves to cook) and an espresso maker for morning cappuccinos on the deck surrounded by river views. The great room has a huge sectional so you can relax and gaze through the walls of windows. There's also a TV, scrabble board and tons of games for nights at home. You can pull out the queen sized Murphy bed if you need it for extra guests with a half bath so guests don't have to go into the bedrooms.

There are two master bedrooms, both with en-suite baths and river views. The 1st floor master is off the great room and has black out shades if you need total darkness to sleep. The bathroom has both a sauna and a bidet! The upstairs master bedroom is absolutely huge with 3 skylights that fill the room with natural light and let you fall asleep under the stars. A separate space with a built in office with it's own view of the river is a perfect place if you have to work. Printer available. The upstairs master closet is big enough to be a bedroom so there is plenty of space for your things during longer stays. 

You can park 3 cars in the shared driveway with the neighbors - just be sure not to park on the neighbor's side. There are two spaces to the right of the single car garage and one space just in front of it. There’s even room for a boat if you have one.

The house used to be an old ice house along a cannery row for salmon. It was completely rebuilt but retained the same shape as the historic ice house. The deck is made from the original wood. Pictures from the original home and area are In the hallway when you get here. It’s outside Lincoln City proper so you’re away from the hubbub. Our neighbors are wonderful and far enough away that you don’t have to worry about noise. You can hear the highway bridge from the distance but it's not loud. There are lots of hiking trails within a couple miles of the house. And the whole river to explore. Great place to fish salmon or go birding. The place at the corner of the 101 and 229 sells bait and rents crab pots. Don't forget to check out Depoe Bay and Newport South on the 101 for gorgeous views of the crashing surf, fishing, great seafood, antiques, and coastal boutiques and candy stores. Keep driving South about an hour and a half and you can see the Sea Lion Caves, the only land based sea lion rookery in the US where hundreds of sea lions live year round.

You will need a car to get around. The nearest grocery store is about 10 minutes away. Plenty of parking at the house. You could even bring a boat. There’s is a public boat launch just up the river.

We welcome your dog (with a pet fee per stay) and older kids (younger ones welcome as long as you watch them on the deck) but there really isn't a yard since the house is almost completely surrounded by water. There is no fence between the house and the road so dogs need to be on a leash outside. We ask that you keep your dog downstairs since the upstairs is carpeted.   Parents with younger children please use your discretion in renting... the entire house is nearly surrounded by water and there is no yard.
