The Summer Kite Festival is one of the Oregon Coast’s most iconic summer events—part art show, part beach day, part family tradition. From synchronized stunt kite performances set to music to massive display kites that surprise visitors every year with their color and grandeur, this is the kind of weekend people plan trips around.

If you're visiting the coast in late June, this is one event worth building your stay around.

Watch the Festival Come to Life

Photos are beautiful, but the real magic happens when the music starts and the stunt kite teams take the sky. Their routines are choreographed, fast-moving, and surprisingly mesmerizing—especially when the kites move together over the beach in perfect rhythm.

Why the Summer Kite Festival Is So Special

This isn’t just a kite show—it’s an experience. Professional fliers bring both skill and personality to the sky, while enormous display kites turn the beach into a colorful open-air gallery.

One moment you may be watching stunt kites dance to music. The next, you’re looking up at giant whales, octopus, sea creatures, and playful shapes floating above the shoreline. Every year brings something a little different, which is part of the fun.

2026 Event Details

The 2026 Lincoln City Summer Kite Festival takes place June 27–28 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. For 2026, the festival will be held outside at Chinook Winds Casino Resort.

This is an important temporary change. The festival is traditionally held at D River State Recreation Site, but the 2026 event has moved because of planned construction for the new Lincoln City Welcome Center at D River.

The event is free to attend, family-friendly, and one of the busiest summer weekends in Lincoln City—so booking early is always a good idea.
