W5 - Fin - Whale Inn

This was the best little room I have stayed in south of Seaside. Great price point, very welcoming and instantly felt like a place I had been to previously that was welcoming me back. Will definitely be back to the Whale Inn.

Great place to stay on a trip down the Oregon coast!

Cute hotel room! Easy to walk to the headlands to watch the sunset, or to downtown to shop and get sprayed by the waves. Tons of storage in drawers so you can keep your stuff packed away and out from underfoot. It is right on the main highway (as advertised) so there's some road noise and no view, but the dehumidifier acts as a noise machine too. Kitchenette isn't extensive, but it has the basics. Plenty of towels and pillows.

This was mine and my husband’s first time in Oregon. After visiting the mountains, we came down to the coast. The stay was everything we needed and more. The location is perfect and the area was very clean. Would stay here again!

Being warm clothes in the winter as it only has a small space heater. access to the cliffs is about a third of a mile away, as it is on the east side of the highway with no water views

hard to find in the dark because the writing on the sign is all but gone and says on their app it has no hair dryer which I stopped and bought one before we arrived just to find out after we left and mentioned it to the owner said there was one there after all. ok stay overall

A perfect night stay, most comfortable bed I've experienced using AirB&B. The location is perfect- a short walk to everything Depot Bay has to offer. The room is cozy, tidy and quiet. I recommend this stay to all.

For a relatively small space, this room provides a great deal of storage space. We particularly liked the drawers built into the bed. The room itself was very comfortable and the location nicely situated in town. We only stayed the night, but would have been quite happy to spend another day or two. Only wish the fridge door opened the other way around, and the fridge itself had an extra shelf.

Great place, really enjoyed it! Very nice hosts. The only thing I didn't enjoy as much was being able to hear the neighbors as well as the street noise outside, personally for that reason I did not sleep well. The host provided earplugs but those aren't comfortable for me either. Everything else was great. Great location, walkable to whale watching and coffee!

Our stay in Depoe Bay was quick but wonderful! Whale Inn is conveniently located and our room was very clean. Bill and Peggy provided great instructions. Loved getting to see all the whales and will definitely be back!

We loved our stay in Depoe Bay. It is right across from the ocean. We could walk right out from our room and see Grey Whales. It was only a couple minutes walking to souvenir shops and restaurants. The room was super clean and comfortable. We would certainly stay there again.

We wanted to spend a day on the coast and needed somewhere to stay for the night with our pup. This was the perfect place for a one night stay. Very clean, convenient location, and reasonable price compared to most Airbnbs on the coast. Only downside is how close it is to the 101, but not that bad with some white noise when sleeping. Also appreciated how simple checkout was. We will definitely stay here again!

This was a great place to stay for one night. Thin walls, but it was a very quiet night, which I appreciated. Quite a few restaurants nearby. Not a large room, but much better value than another place we stayed further down the coast a previous night.

If you need a place to sleep at the end of the days full of activities, this place is for you. It is small, but cozy and clean. It has a small kitchenette with a microwave, mini fridge, and coffee maker. All you need for a quick bite before you leave for adventures.

The rooms were so cute!! They were very clean and just like the picture, and they were very responsive when I requested to add another day!! Definitely recommend this place!!

This is my second time staying here. The room is really cute and clean. It has a charming seaside decor and is cozy. Everything you need is within walking distance. I am sure I will stay here again.

We were happy to find this place at the last minute in our favorite little city of Depoe Bay, right across from our favorite restaurant Tidal Raves. Everything was clean and comfortable and even though it was right on the road, we slept well.

Another great stay! We love that each time we’ve stayed there has been availability, especially because our decisions are typically last minute. The perfect place for a last minute getaway with access to great ocean views, the cutest coffee shop within walking distance, and proximity to all the great shops. We also love that Depoe Bay is a bit smaller but it is still easy to drive to the “bigger” places (Newport & Lincoln City).

Great value stay. Very clean. Bed wasn’t very comfortable and the door lock was a bit finicky. Overall very pleased. Location is great because we like to visit both LC and Newport. Water was nice and hot. Room looks recently updated. Parking was easy.

Super easy to check in and check out. Nice spot in Depoe Bay - you can walk to anything! Clean room and clean shower. They provided toiletries, which was a nice touch. The shower is amazing - didn’t want to get out. Great water pressure and what seems to be an endless supply of hot water. Pet friendly - so we got to see doggies! Will come back and would recommend.

Our stay at Bill and Peggy’s unit #5 at the Whale Inn was perfect! The location is very walkable to local restaurants and beaches, the scenery is beautiful. The unit itself provided us with exactly what we needed for a comfy and quick 2 night stay on the coast. We would gladly stay again.

Sooooo clean - even top of the baseboards were spotless. Conveniently located, communication and access a breeze and bed comfortable. Would stay again.

Whale is a great home base for exploring the Oregon coast. It’s close to local shops, restaurants, and the ocean. The room was clean and had a well appointed kitchenette with coffee and tea if you prefer to make it yourself rather than going to one of the many coffee shops nearby. As the listing indicates, the rooms are right off HW 101, but we didn’t have any trouble getting in and out of the parking lot and the traffic noise was fairly quiet inside.

My partner and I really enjoyed the stay at The Whale Inn. Close proximity to the ocean and beautiful views. Indeed a treat for couples. Thank you for a great stay.

Great price, location, and size for a last minute trip to the coast with the dog! We noticed the grey whales are on their migration, there's a glass float drop in Lincoln city, and the weather was going to be sunny and 50 degrees in December. So we booked last minute but all the correspondence was clear and prompt. Adjacent to the highway but we couldn't hear any road noise from our room. Cute, clean little room. Perfect for a quick coast getaway.

Worked well for our one night stopover. Compact, clean, well-equipped. Walls are a bit thin - could hear neighbors talking & TV but thankfully it didn’t go on too late.

Staying at the Whale Inn was great. It’s in a great location, and had what we needed. It was clean, hosts communicated about checking in in advance, bed was comfortable. The only con is for very light sleepers- TV and voices over a quiet level travel through the walls and it’s noticeable at night. All in all though it was a great stay and I would come back.

Had a good stay. Found a few things for improvement. The bathroom door squeaked and did not close easily. The door chain lock was broken. The door stop was hanging loose. One package of coffee with no filter for the pot was disappointing especially for a weeks stay.

Everything went great. Close to Newport and Lincoln city.

Very clean and well prepared room. We especially enjoyed the extra care to provide shaving cream and snacks for their guests. The bed was a bit hard for our taste and the curtain needs adjusting to provide complete privacy. But those were minor things. All in all - this home was well worth the price for a one night stay and right across the highway from the bay. We'd stay again!

The Fin at Whale’s Inn was great! Cozy and comfortable, clean and cute! It’s everything we needed for a good nights rest after a long day of travel. They literally thought of everything here, from local coffee to brew in the morning to shaving cream and extra tooth brushes in case you forgot! Would definitely recommend and come again! We love Depoe Bay-we had amazing clam chowder at The Horn House and a great breakfast at the Sea Hag. Can’t wait to visit again!

This was a last minute stay and I really enjoyed it! Walking distance to breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You can see the water from the property. Clean and easy to get to unit.

Great value for the cost. The location was great we went whale watching and visited Tidal Raves both were excellent and practically no commute to either. The keyless locks were great for check in and made it easy for us to come and go to the property. The place was also cute and clean and the pictures were accurate. The walls are thin which didn't bother us but caused our furry friend to be a bit anxious.

The Whale Inn was great! We found it last minute. We requested the booking while sitting in the parking lot. They accepted it right away and someone called us to make sure we had everything we needed and they walked us through how to use the keypad to get into the unit. The room was very nice and updated and clean. The bathroom was a little small, but I'll take small and clean over big and dirty! They had a lot of extra bathroom amenities in case you forgot anything! There is some noise from highway 101 but they had a box fan in the room and we plugged that in for some white noise and we slept great! Make sure you read through the tips they have written out. We followed their instructions and walked down to a little cove across the street and it was amazing! We would stay here again!

Whale Inn is a cozy spot to stay in Depoe Bay! The room was clean and very comfortable with just the right amenities for our two night stay. There was excellent communication from the property manager, and the check in/check out process couldn't be simpler. It's location is super convenient for walking around town. A sunset dinner at Tidal Raves was just a short walk across the street!

We booked this trip last minute and so glad we did. The room is cozy and stocked with a lot of extras. It is small and we had our dog with us but it worked great for what we needed. It is right on 101, so there is a bit of road noise. Also, there really isn’t a place for the pups to hang out safely without leash but plenty of beaches nearby for them to run and play! Other than that, this place was dog friendly and cheap, so the lack of outdoor space didn’t really bother us. There is a small coffee stand very close to the place that I would recommend avoiding—the angry man inside was not nice. Take a longer walk to Left Coast Roasters in town and enjoy great coffee and customer service!

Cute spot, right off the main highway. Walking distance from local shops and a couple great viewpoints. Fit two people and a big dog comfortably for 3 nights. Walls are a bit thin between units though. Would recommend!

This was a perfect spot for a solo beach trip and felt very safe and accurately described. The location was actually a lot better than I thought it would be— you can see the ocean from the parking lot. Traveling can be really hard as a disabled individual but, the hosts were great at replying to any questions. For the price I would have loved if the walls were a little thicker since I could hear both neighbors talking and TVs the whole time but, it’s still was a great stay and I would stay again.

Wonderful owners and hosts Immaculate and comfortable. Everything about the stay was perfect. Only thing missing was a bathtub but so worth the sacrifice. Hosts have high standards and all the detail was noticed and appreciated. There was even a can of Barbasol for a good shave. Great find !

This is a cute and updated motel type stay just across the street from amazing views to watch the ocean waves. The room smelled fresh and super clean and I appreciated the touches of dishes, coffee, and microwave which made staying in for the night easy. The room is simple but cozy and had what I needed for a getaway with the dog. There is some traffic noise but it didn’t bother me at all.

Bill’s location is wonderful. I’ve stayed with him in the past and the room is just perfect. I loved the quick walk across the street for a morning coffee. It’s a quiet and pleasant location. It’s extremely clean and just altogether a peaceful place to vacation. I booked again for a second trip. The morning I was supposed to drive up and stay for the weekend, an unexpected snowstorm kept me from being able to make it. Bill refunded me in full and was so unbelievably kind and understanding. I highly recommend staying here! The location is incredible. It’s across the street from a great ocean view and just a five minute walk to beautiful cliffs that you can stand on and watch the sunset. The room itself is clean and tidy and efficient and has everything you need. It’s comfortable and I spent five days there with two dogs and we had a fabulous time. Parking is really easy and so is the pet area. Bill and Peggy had great suggestions about the area and were extremely helpful. I would highly recommend this Airbnb.

This is a recently renovated little hotel in Depoe Bay. The room was perfectly clean with modern amenities and charming decorations. We had no issue with noise despite the proximity to the road. Many good places to eat nearby, even walking distance. Highly recommend stopping here if you're passing through Depoe Bay.

We had a great stay in Depoe Bay! We planned a stop here just based on the convenient location between two points of a long drive but ended up having a great evening and morning in the area! The room was clean, comfortable, well decorated, and located within walking distance of cool little places to eat, shop, and enjoy the scenery. Check in and out was easy and painless.

This space is thoughtful and, though somewhat small, well-apportioned.. it was quite evident the proprietors are taking public health seriously, which helped us feel comfortable and relax. The location is great even though crossing HWY 101 to walk to whale watching (!!) can be time consuming due to traffic. Great pet relief area.

This little property is clean and was ok for the price if you don't mind cold showers. Ocean is across the highway and there is no ocean view but easy walk. Very disappointing that there was no hot water for showers or doing dishes. Only got barely warm, never hot. It's not a matter of warming up as we stayed 2 nights and never had hot water. Bathroom only has light in fan so fan runs if you want light on. Marijuana smell came in through fan several times and I couldn't turn off fan while in bathroom so had to deal with that awful smell due to neighbor smoking. Check in was easy.

Bill was a wonderful host and went above and beyond with the hospitality. We had a small issue (something completely out of Bill’s control) fairly late in the evening. I emailed Bill to let him know, not expecting a response or resolution. Bill answered the email very quickly and resolved the issue. I definitely recommend Bill’s place when staying in Depoe Bay.

We had a great stay at Bill’s place. It’s a cute place and very clean. The little cottage has pretty much everything I needed with thoughtful amenities :)

The place was nice, quiet enough and clean. The room is pretty tiny and there is no desk or any space to work. It's walking distance to nice shops and places to eat.

We really loved this place! Super clean, comfortable, safe, updated, nice amenities. Much better than the pictures! Thanks for having us!! If we find ourselves back in Depoe Bay we will definitely stay again!

We loved staying at the whale inn. It was such a great location. Our favorite restaurant Tidal Raves was just down the street and short walk to trail of amazing views. Room was very comfortable and had a surprising amount of storage. We will come again

This is the second time we've stayed at the Whale Inn and it is really a little home away from home. The place is very clean and they think of everything. They even supply extra toiletries in case you forget something. Bill is an exceptional host. Very accommodating and prompt communication. The Whale Inn is our go to place when we stay in Depoe Bay.

Cute little place for couple nights, not much room, wall was a little thin heard neighbors TV most of the night and I’m sure they heard our baby crying in the middle of night. Overall cute looking place and clean.

What a great space! Right across from a view of the water and just down from the main shopping area. Super clean and well laid out. Easiest check in/out I've ever had. Bill is very good at communicating and the instructions were extremely clear.

Nice little place, clean and pretty close to downtown Depoe Bay, and there's a convenience store literally right next door. It seems like it was renovated recently as it didn't have the old musty feel that many OR coast rentals have. The bed was actually comfortable, in contrast to many rentals/hotels which leave my bad back hurting the next day. We would stay there again.

This place is great for a stay at the beach! Only a 5 minutes drive up to the sand beach and a short trip to the whale watching center in Depoe Bay. The space is cute and had everything we needed. Really enjoyed staying here!

Nicely appointed and quite comfortable. Convenient to everything in Depoe Bay with an excellent restaurant across the street -- Tidal Raves, and a nice walking path in a quiet neighborhood also across the street.

Beautiful, well appointed room. Only negative is that it is located right on Highway 101 so there is traffic noise. I used earplugs so all was well. Otherwise a great place!

This place is clean, cute, and has a great location. It's at the top of the main drag so you can walk everywhere, which is perfect for drinks and shopping. There's rope access to a beach just across the street. I would definitely stay again.

Definitely recommend! The place was very clean and nice, they provided a few extras such as popcorn and toothbrushes that were a thoughtful touch. It also seemed to be well insulated, the place was full when we stayed but we did not hear the neighbors or street at all. We will be back!

It was our first time using Airbnb and I can't say how happy I was to find Bill. We were able to travel easily between towns, have our own privacy and we loved the little touches and additional thoughtfulness put into our room. It was clean, warm and comfortable. Husband and I are already planning to book again for our next trip.

Bill’s place was one of my favorite places I have stayed at while visiting the Oregon coast! The room was perfect for two people. It had all of the standard amenities, plus nice little surprises like a Keurig, Netflix, and even makeup remover wipes! Check in was super easy. He communicated about the self check-in process a day before our trip and made the whole process a breeze. We didn’t have to contact him with any problems or concerns but he made sure we knew he was available. I will definitely stay here again in the future!
