We had lots of family visiting my elderly Mom in Depoe Bay and needed places for them to stay within walking distance. This cute place fit the requirements perfectly. They are beautifully remodeled, very clean, nicely furnished and those who stayed there said the beds and bedding felt high-end. Bill and Peggy were very helpful and responded quickly. We will book here again.

Nice tiny cabin with everything you may need - including band-aids and tooth brushes. 5-10 min walk to local cafes (Whale bites is great for breakfast). We saw seals in the bay!

Loved this stay. It was cozy and very clean. There was toiletries which was great. Only thing of note was that the room did seal slightly smaller in person than it seamed in the photos, and it is right next to the road. We ate dinner at Tidal Raves and I highlyyyy recommend it, amazing food and beautiful views. Would definitely stay again!

Fantastic location and very comfortable will 100% stay again!

This space is an excellent choice for a couple traveling light and/or with dogs. The real value is the location itself, as it is within a stone's throw of a gas station, a coffee shop, a dispensary, grear cliff views, plus the best restaurant in town that can often have long wait times (you can be put on a texting list and can easily walk over to the restaurant within the 5 minute hold window from this location). There is a small hidden beach across the street from this location only accessible by a rope (look for a grey trunk tree with corded rope wrapped around the base between the park and the dispensary), but you can also drive up the road north to more accessible beaches.

The only reason I didn’t give a 5 star for cleanliness was there were hairs in the shower.

The Whale Inn was a great overnight stop on our way up the Oregon Coast. Everything was as listed. I would definitely stay here again. 10/10 recommend.

Walkable to downtown area, in a converted motel but feels safe and clean. Interior is well decorated, comfortable, and stocked with some basic supplies. So close to the bay and a BEAUTIFUL scenic viewpoint.

Solid inn in depoe, nothing super luxurious but good if you are traveling w pets

This was a perfect stay for my last second planning. I brought my dog along and the add on request was easily taken care of. The room had so many great amenities and extras, everything was clean, and I honestly could e hidden away here all weekend.

Peggy and Bill place was in so cute, in a great location, and was walkable to town. The surroundings were beautiful! We recommend staying here.

Just had a small problem with sugar ants on the kitchenette but was taken care of and would like to have a couple more coffee filters so I could make morning coffee all three days of my stay, but a couple good coffee places close by. Was a good getaway!

Great value for the money! Walkable to the main strip of shops and restaurants. Better than expected. We really appreciated the small details/touches: disposable toothbrushes, razor, microwaveable popcorn, coffee, and everything you needed to plate up a meal and clean up. Linens and towels were all clean and we'll stocked. Will surely stay here again.

The Whale Inn of Depoe Bay was a perfect landing spot for us on our Oregon coast road trip. It was easy to find at the north end of town and we could walk easily to all the little shops and our favorite restaurant, Tidal Raves. The space was cozy and cute, ideal for two people and had great coastal decor. Bill and Peggy were communicative, answered all questions promptly, and sent over helpful info prior to us arriving.

We had such a wonderful time. Cute and convenient, this was a perfect place for a weekend getaway to enjoy the coast.

Wonderful stay highly recommend

So we love this motor inn. This is a prime example of a restored vintage motor inn that brings back the nostalgia. This is a clean, well equipped room with thoughtful amenities and very comfortable. Decor is nautical with a hint of retro. Love the large drift wood whale! Addressing some concerns in other reviews: 1. It is a motor inn. Next to the road. That is what a motor inn is. We found the road noise to be minimal after 9pm. That being said, there is a fan in the closet. If concerned about the noise turn it on. Problem solved. 2. Smell. There is a seaside port smell to the entire area. It is also in the room but it is what I would describe as the normal ocean and port smell. It disappears quickly once in the room. 3. Better than a Motel 6??? It is a beautifully re done piece of Americana. If you want to experience an old school but renovated Motor Inn this is the place. In summary, it is a great little spot! We will visit again.

This place is great! Just as pictured. Small but so cute and the layout is very smart. It was the perfect size for the two of us and our 85lb dog. Also very well stocked from the bathroom to the kitchenette. We only stayed one night but could have stayed much longer very comfortably! Right off the 101 and a short walk to restaurants and a coffee shop. With the provided box fan for white noise the highway sounds were nonexistent. Would definitely stay here again!

Full disclaimer - we checked in and almost immediately realized we would not be able to stay the night. In Inn is right off of the 101 and is very noisy, you can hear every vehicle pass, cars turn off the road, trucks unloading next door, etc. We are sensitive sleepers and knew we wouldn’t be able to sleep in that kind of environment, so we left. Peggy was very nice and offered another place for us to stay, but ultimately we ended up booking something elsewhere. If you can sleep through anything this would still be a great place to stay, it was very cute and clean, but just didn’t meet our needs.

Had a lovely stay here. Good communication from hosts, easy check in instructions, lovely room. Very seamless entry from parking to room. Definitely would recommend.

This is the second time we’ve stayed at Bill and Peggy’s property and this time was just as good as the last. The property is clean and in good distance to walk to shops and restaurants. There is good parking, the room itself is decorated cute but not full of clutter. We will always try to stay here first when we visit Depoe bay!

Great spot to stay in Depoe Bay!

Perfect for our little weekend getaway. The power went out, so we didn’t stay as long as we would have liked, but it was still nice. The sink dripped, so we had to shut the water off when we weren’t using it, and my husband hit his foot on the lip going into the bathroom, but he was ok! Just might want to put a strip of tape or something on it, since I also saw another reviewer that had the same thing happen.

The cottage is very cute and in a great location. We had some difficulty getting in initially, but eventually did... The only thing I would ask for is that there be more coffee filters and coffee for stays longer than 2 days.

Very nice spot! very clean and enough room for two. There is a funky step into the bathroom that we both caught once, other that everything was perfect!

We loved this little place. They were responsive when I had written them about service wear and coffee machine. discovered we had cute recliners. Husband liked. I loved all the pillows. Hot water showers with good pressure. it is near the main road so easy to find but can be noisy. However, street noises don't bother us as we have a sound machine. Many Options all within walking distance. Great little dog area provided with many walking areas for dogs around. Easy in an Out. The only complaint was I wished the TV was bigger. I wear glasses, and it still can be hard to see.

Wow! Great space. If you want a good lookout point walk right across the street ALL the way down sunset rd (I think that’s what it was called) up the hill to see the most stunning view! Wonderful stay. Thanks :)

We were visiting children and grandchildren The lodging was perfect for us? If we were to suggest any improvements it would be a broom for the floor and a dehumidifier for the room if requested The outdoor lighting was a huge plus for us . We returned every night after dark always felt safe. When we took our dog out at night it was especially appreciated The room was spotless !

My husband and I stayed here one night with our two dogs. We were within 30 minutes of many beaches and Lincoln City Glass Center. Bay View Thai Kitchen was nearby and so delicious. We would love to come back to whale watching when the time comes - the OPRD whal watching center is right down the street. Clean, well heated/cooled room with a comfy bed and enough room for everyone.

We booked last minute for a quick over night get away. Host was communicative and helpful. Room was cozy and clean. We loved the local coffee that was provided!! The local bar next door, the Tide Pool, was friendly and the pizza was delicious!! This host made our trip easy and relaxed.

This property was comfortable, clean, and pet friendly. The shower splashes a large amount of water onto the floor, be careful. There is also a couple inch step up from main living area to the bathroom. Watch your step, it's definitely a toe buster. Overall, great place for dog owners 🧡

We had a quick but wonderful stay. Everything is well kept in the room. The location is very close to a busy road, but the owners had a portable fan tucked in the bathroom. Using the fan completely covered the road noise. Thank you for thinking about the little comfort items!

We’ve stayed in quite a few Airbnbs and the Whale Inn was one of our favorites! After 3 days of camping at The Gorge, it was very refreshing and cozy. Love the charming decor, very supportive bed and pillows, and lots of little toiletries offered which is uncommon to see in short term places! Water pressure and heat duration was also amazing. Heads up that it does have a fridge if you’re bringing perishable food from a road trip, but no cooking options. Try Bay View Thai while you’re here, it’s an incredible restaurant with very nice people.

Great little spot close enough to the hustle and bustle of depoe bay activities, but far enough away to make it enjoyable and quiet. Room was well-appointed, with thoughtful little things like toothbrushes and shaving cream/razor, and makeup removal wipes! We will definitely be back, for sure!!

Great location and room! Love that the property is pet friendly. Check in and out is super easy with the electronic door locks. Very hospitable with providing everything you need for your stay, even down to tooth brushes and shaving cream. The shampoos/conditioner/lotion provided was also high quality! Definitely would stay there again.

Simple and satisfying! I was driving up the coast and made a pit stop here for a night on my route home. The inn was literally right off the road, and the accommodations were clean and cozy. Bill provided very clear and timely communication for checking in and checking out. The two caveats I would note for potential guests is that a) the walls between units are thin, so noises carry, and b) the location is super convenient for those just passing through like I was, but it didn't carry the kind of charm that lures you in for a multi-day stay. But it suited my needs perfectly!

Comfortable, well equipped room for lodging on a trip down the Oregon coast. Updated but "old fashioned" hotel room with an amazingly efficient kitchen space. Several good places very close by to dine or get take out.

The Whale Inn is a great place to stay! Nicely updated with great linens and tasteful decor. The location is ideal. They take care of of every detail by having toiletries available. Nice having a mini fridge and kitchenette. Easy check in and check out. Great communication!

Lovely space, just a short walk for an ocean view (and a peekaboo view from the picnic table). The room is cute as a button done in beach theme and perfect for one or cozy up as a couple - wifi excellent. Staff was friendly and helpful, and the cleaning staff attentive. If you're looking for a charming little space to enjoy the cutest town of Depoe Bay, this is your place.

I had a great stay at the The Whale Inn, it's conveniently located, comfortable and clean. I suggest you make dinner reservations if you plan to eat out, all the restaurants in the tiny town were all booked up on a weeknight in the summer.

Very nice, quant little studio off the main road in Depoe Bay. The place is easily accessible for guests, and the check-in process was seamless. It is very small and perfectly cozy for two people. The walls are very thin so we could hear our neighbors. And also because it is so close to the main highway, you can definitely hear all the traffic even when staying in a middle unit like ours. Otherwise, everything was easy peasy.

The Whale Inn was a perfect little spot for my husband and I to enjoy a getaway. It is walking distance to all the cute shops & restaurants in Depoe Bay. We also walked across the street for coffee at the Pirate Coffee Company. The room was clean, nicely remodeled, and had nice "home" touches to it. We appreciated the complimentary Keurig coffee cups, popcorn bag, and Bath and Body Works soap in the bathroom. Great find!

Can't rave about this place enough!! The room was exactly as pictured(which isn't always the case when traveling), communication was excellent, the room was spotless, the lady who cleaned the rooms after someone checked out was very helpful and the location was great! It's about a 3 minute walk down to the shops and restaurants downtown with a great restaurant right across the street named Tidal Raves and Pirate Coffee Company within sight. Convenience store a couple of doors down that was handy but not too close to be bothersome. so location is excellent. You can even see the ocean from the parking lot. I have family in Depoe Bay so the Whale Inn will definitely be my go to place when I return to vist! Don't hesitate to book here!

Bill's place at Whale Inn was super clean and styled very well. I expected to find bits of sand on the ground since it is on the coast but there was not a single piece!

The room was decorated very nicely with semi-modern styles, it is relaxing to stay in. The bed was very comfortable and there were plenty of pillows and blankets with several other thoughtful touches such as pet covers for furniture for those who need it. The location is a little noisy from the highway right next to it but the convenience of being next to restaurants, a coffee shop, gas station and the beach made it well worth it.

We did a quick getaway night on the coast and the Whale Inn was perfect. This inn is beautifully decorated and had lots of homey touches that I wasn’t expecting. (Extra warm blankets, dishes, microwave popcorn, and even brand new toothbrushes in case you forgot yours at home). It’s steps away from whale watching and shopping. Stay here. You’ll love it!!

I was a bit nervous traveling, as it was our first trip since COVID started, but I booked this place because of all of the reviews saying how clean it was. The reviews were spot on! The room was comfortable and had everything we needed. It had clearly been renovated not too long ago. We communicated primarily with Peggy, who was super sweet and quick to respond. There is a great coffee place super close and across the street, where they did a good job with masks and served you through a window. There are several good restaurants not far away. We'd definitely stay there again!

We used the space for passing through on our drive along the coast. if you are a light sleeper traffic might disturb you since it’s located on a main road but we were able to sleep fine. The space was very clean ! We had an enjoyable experience.

This place is a great bargain. The rooms are very clean and updated. It's a quick walk to all shops in Depoe Bay. The hosts answered my questions and communications very, very quickly. There are little touches that make this place very comfortable--popcorn! I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

The Whale Inn is a great little place to stay to be close to everything to do in Depoe Bay. We loved that they accommodated pets, and the room was great for us! It was nice to have a kitchenette area with plates and silverware and a mini fridge. We loved walking across the street and eating at Tidal Raves restaurant. Great views and really great food. For breakfast we recommend Gracie's Sea Hag! They have some amazing eggs benedict dishes. There was also great recommendations in the room for sights to see and other things to do. We can't wait to come back and stay!

Very cute and clean place, only issue was that there was a LOT of road noises and thin walls so we could hear our neighbors. I recommend this place for a couple or a few friends but not great if you are traveling with a pet or noise sensitives people. There was also a very small patch of wood chips RIGHT NEXT to a very busy road so we didn’t feel that it was that pet friendly.

I'm normally not one to hand over 5 star reviews unless someone/something has gone above and beyond. Bill definitely has. Whale Inn room 3 was smaller than a hotel room, making it more quaint and homey. Perfect amount of space for our quick overnight get away. Beautifully decorated with cute and thoughtful touches. I appreciated the stress relieving shower and body supplies, along with ample, thick towels. They even went as far as to put individually wrapped toothbrushes and razors, in case you needed one! There is a detailed binder of all things you'd need to know (address, check out procedures, what to do in case of ER, etc), a list of TV channels, and the kitchen is stocked with dishes, coffee, popcorn and a toaster! Last, with the programmed key code with autochange for checkout time, the slide chain lock above and the car right outside, we felt safe and comfortable. Can't say enough good things, we will definitely be back.

Wonderful little space in a perfect location for Depoe Bay! You are just across the street from a gorgeous stretch of scenic overlooks of the coastline and just up the street from Depoe Bays main coastline drag. Had a great night here, eating takeout from the fantastic seafood restaurant across the street, watching the sunset over the waves, then an amazing sleep in the SUPER comfy and clean bed. Felt like the only person who had ever stayed here. Kitchenette amenities, cable, and dog friendly status are all bonuses to these really great little seaside spaces.

So pleasantly surprised by the comfort and style of Whale inn, its perfectly appointed with everything you need. They had toothbrushes, a box fan, many pillows, disposable cups, keurig and coffee pods. Plus a fantastic little dog relief area with poop bags and covered picnic area. Easy to find and access, plus great rates. Highly recommend as a quick stopover.

It looks like it was recently remodeled and it’s really nice. Only a couple blocks to the main part of town.

We couldn’t have been happier with our stay! Extra special touches such as spacing guests in every other room, since not all rooms were booked, were especially appreciated. Yummy microwave popcorn was an unexpected nighttime treat as well! We can’t wait for a return visit!

Had a nice one night stay at the Whale Inn, love that it's dog friendly. Close to the bay. There is a coffee spot right across the street which is very nice. Only slight critique that I have is that it is located right next to HWY 101 and you hear it throughout the night.

I enjoyed my stay in Depoe Bay. The communication from Bill was excellent. I had no trouble finding my rental or accessing it. Parking was free and right next to the entrance. The decor was nautical and cute without being too over the top. The sheets on the bed were incredibly soft and the mattress was very comfortable. There were plenty of towels; no need to worry about running out, which was very nice. There was a selection amenities in the bathroom in case you forgot something, like your toothbrush or a razor. The curtains blocked the light very well so we could sleep. I appreciated the fan that was available for white noise, as the rental is located very close to a busy street. There isn't much of a view from the room, but you are very close to the water and it's a two minute drive or a five minute walk to get there, so that wasn't a problem for us. The restaurant that Bill recommended nearby (Tidal Raves) was a little bit pricey but the food was amazing and the view over the water at sunset was fantastic. I would return to this location again and recommend it without reservation.

It’s a cute place, new decor and furniture and the bed was comfortable. It was immaculate. It was a bit smaller than I imagined (small hotel room size). It’s also right on Highway 101 so a lot of traffic noise.

We had a great time at Whale Inn. The communication was super easy and quick and the place looks exactly like it does on the pictures. The neighborhood is very conveniently located and although it’s a lively neighborhood the place is very quiet! Would absolutely recommend to stay there!

This was a very cute little inn off the 101 and the perfect place to stop on our Oregon Coast drive. Gorgeous sights nearby, cute shops and restaurants close and very conveniently located if you are doing the drive down the coast. The room was immaculately clean and the decor was adorable. The only thing to note is the bathroom is extremely small but it didn’t affect our stay at all. The communication from the owners was amazing and they offer a great email with local sightseeing and dining tips. Would definitely book here again!

I will definitely be coming back, the space was spotless upon arrival. The bed was super comfy. They had every bathroom amenity you could want including band aids and makeup wipes. It's super close to Tidal Raves which I am very glad I had a reservation. I had a wonderful time, it made my anniversary weekend special.

The room was just as nice as the pictures, owners have done a great job with the remodel, we were very comfortable and enjoyed every minute of our stay. Despite being right off the busy road, we had no noise issues. Would definitely stay again!

This place is high quality, affordable, clean, and in a great location. I would give 4 stars overall. They provided lots of clean towels and great information and amenities, including tea and coffee packets, make-up removing wipes, Bath and Body Works shampoo, conditioner, and body soap, and more. It's also right across the street from the ocean and a short drive to Newport. The only things that turned me off to this place is that the walls are pretty thin and we could hear the TVs/people talking in both the rooms on either side of us. Also, the sheets/blanket/comforter had handful of long hairs (black, grey, brown, etc.) which made me uneasy about sleeping in the bed. However upon further inspection, the sheets did seem washed and relatively clean and may have just been a poor washing machine used. Despite this, I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Depoe Bay.

Bill’s place was nice and comfortable. It is across the street from the bay and close to restaurants and shopping. The city of Lincoln City and Newport are also not too far of a drive. Great location for everything at the beach.

We had a great time at the Inn! The check-in process was easy, they emailed directions ahead of time and tips about the area. The room itself was very clean, comfortable and stylish with nice amenities. A quick walk across the street brought us to beautiful views of the ocean and Tide Pool Pub & Pool was very close walk for drinks and delicious pizza. We would stay here again!

Lovely decorated room. It was quaint and just what my husband and I needed for a weekend getaway! There is beach access right across the street and the adorable town is all walkable from the inn. We will be back!

Outstanding place to stay! Will be back forsure. Centrally locates to all kinds of restaurants and shops and right across the street from the ocean. The smoked salmon shop across the street is amazing.

We only stayed one night, but the place was great for what we needed. Clean, great location, easy check in. Host was also easy to communicate with. Would definitely stay here again.

This place was incredibly cute. It felt like we had our own little apartment. Depoe Bay is small enough that we were close to everything.

Whale Inn is a wonderful place to stay in Depoe Bay! The location was great, and we were able to walk to many fun local spots. The room was super clean and provided everything we needed for a weekend getaway. Would definitely recommend!

Darling place and very clean.

Easy self check in, very clean room. We arrived at midnight for a one night stay and self check in was very easy. However, I did get a weird text message the following morning saying that another guest had complained about loud noises and they were inspecting our room for damage of property. It was very odd because we were VERY quiet and tired when we checked in. Other than that the stay was fine.

The studio suite was perfect! My best friend and I were driving the PCH and this place is along the route. Located in a really cute town known for whale watching, Bill gave us great directions to the place, check in and out was a breeze with his very detailed directions, and he offered restaurant suggestions which we took. Very much worth every penny. The suite was super clean and had all the amenities. Highly recommend this place.

A lovely town with many amazing views!

Great location less than a minute from the shops and restaurants in Depot Bay. Very cute space with nice touches. All the travel bath products were Bath and Body Works stress relief which was a nice touch. They also had a Keurig with a couple of choices for coffee and popcorn for you to make.

Great little place

Everything was as pictured and expected. Bill's place was clean. It was easy to find, and across the street from the ocean. The main strip of Depoe Bay is south of Bill's place and very close.
